Warning on lending money

When will you learn?

I read many financial blogs and books since 2013.

One book, The Richest Man in Babylon, advocates to exact a item equivalent to the amount you are lending.

In olden times, these items included cattle. Sheep. Land titles.

There's a deep warning against people who cheat on you. When they give you something of lessee return.

Nowadays, people pawn their ATMs. Yeah.

In my kindheartedness, I don't ask that.

But I'm rethinking.

Two people owe me. 4 digits.
It's a big amount. I would have appreciated if they could pay me in installment... but no.

Maybe I should decrease how much I lend.

Now I understand why banks demand collateral.

Don't depend on your salary

Mother got mad because I spent a five digit amount for an online course, whose lessons have yet I have to apply.

With my present circumstances, I think it would have better if I spent that amount to pay my health issurance.

Money can be tight.

Unless a mindset shift happens.

You know. Like increasing your capacity to earn instead of depending on your salary.

I paid 800 pesos to learn important lessons on keeping money

My suspicions were confirmed.

Today (Aug 12) , I discovered that some cash in my store money was stolen.

For the past few days, I noticed that the coin purse was becoming lighter and lighter.

I knew that I had a couple of hundred bills in my store wallet before I left for Manila. But it's a totally different story.

I don't blame anyone, but myself.

I had left the money in my cabinet, unlocked.

At least money was still left, a thousand pesos.

My capital is still preserved. I still have my stocks.

The learning, however,  is priceless.

Always lock where your money is stored, no matter how little it is.

Always account for your stocks.

Never let your guard down, when it comes to money.

Am I angry?

No, of course not.

I know it was my fault. I can't just pinpoint who stole my money.

The culprit stole almost hundreds from me. I believe more than 500 pesos.

It could have been worse.

The culprit could have stolen my entire store earnings. But the culprit didn't.

The culprit didn't just steal from me, but taught me valuable lessons.

Lessons that wouldn't hit home if it never happened.

The entrepreneurial spirit

I never saw myself as a person who could sell.

Until I sold biscuits, coffee, and sweets at my office.

I was the shy type. I had difficulty in asking people to "buy my stuff". But one day, I told my officemates I was selling food.

I knew I had competition, yet I persisted.

My capital has quadrupled in 2 years now. The growth is sluggish because I'm selling small stuff. I understand. To catch bigger fish, one must use a bigger bait.

If I could go back in time, I wish someome had nurtured the entrepreneurial spirit in me. My father was a businessman, but he died before I could learn from his trade. My mother is a government employee who admits she has no knack for running a business.

I too, am a government employee, yet the burning desire to have my own business grows each day.

The only sensible thing I can do is to nurture it.
